Mental Training for Golf
Could it really be as good as it says? Yes - but.
As long as you keep one
thing in mind (yes, literally). Golf Mental Training requires as much, if not more effort on your part as any type
of swing training.
For two reasons.
Golf Mental Training develops differently to swing training.
At some point you began playing golf with no physical skill at all. That’s cool, because you just need a few goes and your skill set slowly but surely begins to grow. Did your Golf Mental Game start at zero? Unlikely. You probably had a negative thought before your mate even showed you how to hold the driver.
“I’m not going to be able to hit this.”
“I’m going to end up in that bunker”
“Here comes another 3-putt.”
Sound familiar? Your Golf Mental Training begins in earnest during your first game. But not how you want it to. It builds rapidly; and in the wrong direction. You literally program yourself to fail. Sure, the first few games are always a bundle of laughs - especially for the guys/girls next to you. But it doesn’t last long. What little skill you have is lost in a frenzy of club abuse, shots out of the rough and other people’s laughter.
Golf Mental Training deteriorates without training, like any other skill.
This one is self explanatory, but it is linked with the paragraph above. Without a disciplined Golf Mental Game, you start to lose any good thought-skills you had. Either you just forget them if you don’t use them, or you de-program them with negative thoughts like those listed above.
Golf Mental Training is not a quick fix. But it can make a huge difference.With an open mind to Golf Mental Training, and a willingness to continually put into practice what you learn, the effect can be dramatic. The results you are told about are yours to get, with the right attitude.
